Shaikh Mohammad approved the plan during a visit to the RTA headquarters at Umm Ramool where he was briefed about a number of vital projects being implemented by the agency.
Shaikh Mohammad expressed his satisfaction at the infrastructure projects listed in the strategic plan 2030, which is consistent with Dubai’s comprehensive plan 2021 that aims to achieve sustainable development.
A team of top officials gave a detailed presentation on the Traffic and Transportation Plan 2030 to Shaikh Mohammad and Mattar Mohammad Al Tayer, director-general and chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of RTA.
Shaikh Mohammad reviewed designs and components of some vital projects, including Al Shindagha Crossing, which was designed on the idea of “infinity” to make it a unique feature in Dubai.
The project will be implemented over three phases. The first one is finished while the second phase will be implemented in the first quarter of next year. It aims to develop the Al Shindagha Crossing from Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Road after its intersection with Abu Hail Road. The third phase of the project aims to develop Al Shindagha Crossing after the intersection of Abu Hail Road with Cairo Road and Al Rasheed Road. It also includes Al Mamzar Bridge and Abu Hail bridge.
Shaikh Mohamamd was also briefed on the details of the RTA’s five-year plan (2017-2021) which aims to pave internal streets in 16 residential areas to meet residents’ needs. The plan also involve planting and beautifying Dubai roads for environmental protection in line with the green economy strategy.
Jewel of the Creek
Among the projects that were reviewed by Shaikh Mohammad was the Jewel of the Creek. The project features constructing a pedestrian bridge at Bani Yas street. He was also briefed about the a project to construct an intersection between Jebel Ali Road and Al Hebab and Al Qudra roads beside constructing a flyover for cyclists.
The 2030 plan also includes the marine transport stations project which aims to construct marine stations for the Dubai Water Canal and Business Bay. The designs of the stations, which were selected by Shaikh Mohammad, are consistent with the local architecture.
The projects also involve making expansions and development to Burj Khalifa metro station and the new designs for metro buses were selected by Shaikh Mohammad.
The RTA team briefed Shaikh Mohammad on the components of the Traffic and Transportation Plan 2030, which includes Traffic Solution projects that aim to construct 36 bridges beside working on road improvements. The project will be carried out through five phases that will start in the middle of 2017 and be completed in November 2019.
The 2030 plan also involves road improvements project at Dubai Airport Road. The project aims to build five bridges and tunnels that will help increase the capacity of the airport road to 5,000 vehicles per hour, boost traffic safety and cut distances between Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Road and Al Dar Al Baida to five minutes instead of 30.
