Khalid Mohammad Sherif Al Awadi, the director of Dubai Municipality’s Food Safety Department has received an award for food safety leadership from the International Association for Food Protection.The award was conferred to him at the annual conference of the association in the state of Missouri in the USA.

The opening ceremony of the conference, which the association has been hosting annually for the past 100 years, was attended by about 2,000 food safety and security experts from across the world, the civic body said in a press release on Thursday.
Al Awadi is the first official in the Middle East to win this award and he was nominated due to his effective and leading role in developing food safety regulations in Dubai, the UAE and the region, it added.
Noting that the honour is the result of the support of the state’s wise leadership and the emirate, and Dubai Municipality, Al Awadi said it is not just a personal achievement but an honour for the whole team which is working hard and committed to making Dubai a destination for everyone seeking distinction, innovation and development in this vital field. He added that this honour will be an incentive for more distinguished initiatives and achievements.
