The Food Safety Department of Dubai Municipality is studying the option of providing inspection services for water tanks in residential buildings and complexes to check their safety in terms of cleanliness and sterilisation.
This will be done by collecting water samples from tanks and testing them to ensure they are free of impurities that may affect people.
The service will focus on raising awareness among consumers on the importance of maintaining cleanliness of water tanks periodically and approaching only the municipality-approved cleaning companies that apply the required hygiene standards, said Iman Bastaki, Director of Food Safety Department.
